Walk by the Spirit

Posted on

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

Galatians 5:16

We are created by God to walk by the eternal Spirit. We live by the Spirit by interfacing to the world through the Spirit, everything we think, see, and say, is through the Spirit. This is the way we overcome our sinful fleshly desires.

When we live by the Spirit, we are closer to the Lord, and that is how he guides us. The closer we are to the Lord the less Satan will cause us to gratify our sinful desires of the flesh. We can also desire things from the flesh that are pleasing to the Lord, and are approved by the Spirit.
Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; b
ut those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. (Romans 8:5) If we seek to walk in the Spirit and pray for the Lord’s help, we will be successful, and our minds will begin following the Spirit. Then walking in the Spirit will become natural, because that is way God created us.

Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. (Ephesians 5:15-16) When we walk by the Spirit, we walk with Godly wisdom and we use our time for the Lord, reflecting is kindness and love. When we walk by the Spirit we use our time for the Lord to bring people to Christ, and we live with a heart filled with the fruit of the Spirit. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23)

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:21) When we walk in the Spirit, Christ guides us to do good, and doing good and controlling our thoughts helps us to overcome evil. Everything God tells us to do in the Word enables to overcome evil, and renews our mind to the ways of God, which rewires according to our thoughts.

God has done everything possible so Heaven will be home, except he gives us freewill. When we walk in the Spirit, our minds renew, and our minds renew to our last day on earth. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2) Our minds rewire based on our thoughts, and walking in the Spirit keeps our minds on things of God.

Today seek to walk in the Spirit, and talk to the Lord many times during the day.

Prayer: Father, help me to walk by the Spirit, and depend on Christ for everything. In Jesus name, Amen
