The Spirit Gives Life

Posted on

But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life

Romans 8:10

We are created in the image of God which means we are spiritually alive when we have the indwelling Holy Spirit. We are created to be with God and the Spirit connects us to Christ. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. (John 16:13) The Spirit takes the words of Christ and presents them to us, and the Spirit takes our words and presents them to Christ; The Spirit intercedes on our behalf. The Father speaks to the Son and the Son speaks to us, which means we are connected to the Father through Christ. We are now spiritually alive.

Without the Holy Spirit, we are not connected to Christ and we are spiritually alone. You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. (Romans 8:9) We have the Spirit and Christ is always with us.  He is willing to guide us through life and fill us with His love, peace, and joy.

Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.” (John 14:23) When our hearts are filled with God’s love, we will have a close connection to Christ and we will realize that we are never alone, the Father and the Son are with us. We notice this by our urgency to pray, read his word, and meditate because we seek to be closer to the Lord.

The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. (John 6:63) These are the words that Jesus spoke to his apostles and next verse is: Yet there are some of you who do not believe. (John 6:64) Today, many live for their flesh without realizing they are spiritually dead. This verse Jesus spoke says His Word is full of Spirit and life.  That is because the Word is spiritually understood, and the Word is alive.  For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12) The Word is alive and Christ through the Spirit will reveal divine understanding to our hearts.

Today, realize you are spiritually alive, and it is a divine blessing to know Christ.  Seek to serve Christ today because the more we serve him, the closer we are to him. When our hearts truly depend on him, we need him in our life, and we are drawn to him. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13) Through the Spirit, we seek the Lord with an undivided heart.

Prayer:  Lord, thank you for giving me spiritual life and divine purpose for living. Serving you is truly life to the full.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
