The Power of Patience

Posted on

With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.

Ephesians 4:2

Patience is a fruit of the Spirit, and with patience we can slow down in life. There are many things in life that trigger our emotions which can cause us to react without patience. Patience with humility makes life more fulfilling and gives us time to know God. In the Bible we can see Jesus always showed patience to help others.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1) We can become a slave to a lack of patience. We can rush wherever we go, and get angry if any one slows us down.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatian 5:22-23) How can we have lasting peace and joy without having patience? Patience is a fruit of the Spirit, and it enables to live a relaxed life like Jesus.

Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. (Proverbs 16:32) Anger is an emotion that can cause an ungodly reaction, but if we are patience, anger loses its power over us. Satan’s goal is to make us hurry in all cases, because lack of patience can keep us from communing with God. We can remain patience and still inside, even when people expect us to react in an emotional state. Patience is a powerful witness for Christ, because people see us being relaxed with patience.

Today, be still inside and seek to always react with calmness and Godly wisdom.

Prayer: Lord, guide me in your wisdom when tempted to have lack of patience. Help me to remain still inside and connected to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
