The Father and the Son are Heaven

Posted on

Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

John 17:3

Eternal life is based on knowing the Father and the Son, and the word knowing means having a close relationship through the Spirit with Christ and the Father. Having a close relationship with Christ and experiencing his presence in our life, we can only imagine how great it will be with the Father and the Son in Heaven.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. (Ephesians 1:3) Our soul, which is our thoughts, personality, emotions, and will, is spiritual and can only be permanently satisfied from Heaven through the Spirit. Satisfying the flesh can never bring lasting satisfaction to our soul because everything from the world is temporary. When we are with the Father and the Son in Heaven, our soul will be perfectly satisfied and experience the glory of God forever.

The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you–they are full of the Spirit and life. (John 6:63) This verse tells us that life comes through the Spirit and enables us to know the Word.  Without the Word, we will never know the Father and the Son.  It’s through knowing the Word and living the Word, guided by the Spirit that brings us closer to the Lord who fills our heart with love as we depend on Him.  If we don’t depend on the Lord, how can we have faith? The closer we are to the Lord in this life, the more we desire to be with Him in Heaven.

Satan knows that only the Spirit can satisfy our soul, therefore he tempts us to seek satisfaction through the flesh.  The flesh counts for nothing in bringing lasting love, peace, and joy to our soul. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23) The Spirit brings the fruit that comes from Christ and the fruit is with us forever. The closer our relationship is with Christ, the greater we experience the fruit. When we reach Heaven and we are with the Father and the Son, the fruit reaches infinite, well beyond our imagination.

Today, realize that you can only reach satisfaction and contentment from Christ through the Spirit. Seek your lasting peace and joy from Christ so you can enjoy the day through your flesh. Then, you will have the best of both the spiritual world and the physical world.

Prayer: Lord, guide me to serve you, bring me closer to you, and help me to be more dependent on you. Thank you, Lord for the Holy Spirit who guides me through life as I serve you. Thank you making me worthy to serve you.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
