The Bride of Christ

Posted on

And I John saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Revelation 21:2

The relationship between Christ and his family is identified as the bridegroom and the bride. The love and care a bridegroom gives to his bride reveals in earthly terms the love and care the Lord has for his people. Christ is the perfect bridegroom, his love is infinite, and his care is divine through his infinite power. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. (Ephesians 5:23)  The church is the bride of Christ and Christ is the head of the church. The love the Lord has for his bride, the church, is revealed through his promise of eternal life, his protection of our souls. And he comes and lives in us, the Holy Spirit. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. (Revelations 19:7) On the Lord’s second coming, he will take his bride, the church, with him into heaven.

Everyone in God’s family is connected through the Holy Spirit, even though there are many in the family we may never see or talk to. We are all brothers and sisters in God’s family and God answers our prayers because he wants his family to be united. Unity in the church is critical because if we are all Christ-like the power of the Spirit enables the church to do great things for the Lord.

All in God’s family are filled with the Holy Spirit and reveal Christ-like character. God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble. (James 4:6). Those in God’s family are secure and humble and receive God’s grace while those outside God’s family, those who do not accept Christ as their Savior, they are prideful and are opposed by God. God is always reaching out for lost souls, and he calls his people to let the Spirit guide them to lost souls. Everyone in God’s family has a divine calling to point people to Christ through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Today remember you are in the family of God, you have his protection and his divine guidance. Meditate on what it means to be in the family of God, and filled with God’s love and security. Never forget that heaven is your home, you are here in this world for the purpose of planting seeds of Christ in lost souls.

Prayer: Lord, fill my heart with love and security that comes from knowing I am in your family. Lord, forgive me of my sins as I live by your grace and help me to overcome any sinful temptations, anything that is not permitted in your family. In Jesus name, Amen
