The Christian Life

Posted on

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

2 Corinthians 5:17

The Word tells us that when we are in Christ, born of God, old things pass away and new things have come, implying that our life has changed. God changes us, he changes our life, and he changes how we see the world. Everything is new from our perspective and we have a divine purpose in life which makes our life more meaningful and fulfilling.

God is focused on our future and he has forgiven and forgotten our past sins. He molds us to be Christ-like which gives us a new life. The Christian life includes new people because we are now in the family of God and we have brothers and sisters in Christ through the church. All of God’s people are united in love through the Holy Spirit, and we develop close friendships within the church family. We spend more and more time with our Godly friends because we have strong connection through the Spirit.

With our new Christian friends we have new activities in our life. We spend time with our new friends enjoying activities in the world that are pleasing to God. These include everything from meeting a brother for breakfast to having family vacations together. The bond through the Spirit is God bringing his family together. We know the old is going away because time with our worldly non-Christian friends is not the same as our time with our Christian brothers and sisters.

Through our new Christian life we see a new world, because our life has now taken on new meaning and purpose, and we now realize this world is not our home. We live for our eternal life with God, and we see everything in this life as temporary. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. (James 4:14) This new purpose for our life is to live for Christ, being a light in this dark world, pointing people to Christ. This is our divine calling and from God, and ministering to others consumes our life because our heart is filled with God’s love. The more we serve the Lord, seeking to minister to lost souls, the more fulfilling and rewarding this life becomes. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10)

Today live the Christian life, seeing the world and people through the eyes of God. Let the Spirit guide you to be light in whatever you are doing today. Let your light drown out any darkness, replacing it with the Lord’s love and wisdom. Live today with peace and joy, walking in confidence and security in Christ, reflecting his love and kindness.

Prayer: Thank you Lord for giving me a new life and a divine reason for my life, and heaven as my home. Thank you for guiding me in the Spirit and helping me in every detail of my life. Thank you for your grace and forgiveness, and for continually molding me to be Christ-like. In Jesus name, Amen
