Rejoice, Pray, and Give Thanks

Posted on

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

This scripture tells us to rejoice, pray and give thanks, which will keep us in the Spirit. We can rejoice every day, because Heaven is our eternal home, and the more we are in the Spirit the closer we are to Heaven.

Pray without ceasing implies we commune with the Lord through out the day. Christ is within us through the Holy Spirit, and he knows our every thought and word. We rejoice through our day because Christ is with us every second of the day; and he will guide us through the day with his love and divine power.

If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. (Matthew 16:24 If we pray without ceasing, it means we depend on Christ being with us. The more we walk with the Lord, the more faith we have and the less we depend on self, because the Lord with us.

We can live with a thankful heart because Christ is willing to be with us and help through our day. A thankful heart draws us closer to Christ and fills our hearts with joy. It takes faith and a dependence on the Lord in order to know he with us.

We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands (1 John 2:3). As we serve the Lord, being a Light for Christ, the more we depend on Christ being with us. We actually get to the point that when our thoughts are off the Lord, the Spirit convicts us and pulls us back to the Lord. Keeping our thoughts on Christ means we give him priority, because if we take our thoughts off Christ, we can easily drift into worldly desires.

Today take time to praise and thank God and know the Lord is with you. Be connected to the Lord with praise and thankfulness in all circumstances, and reap the blessings of the Lord being with us.

Prayer: Lord, help me to know that you are always with me. In Jesus name, Amen
