Receive a Hundred Times as Much

Posted on

“Truly I tell you, Jesus replied, no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age:”

Mark 10:29-30

This verse is a promise of Christ stating whatever we leave from this world, Christ will replace with hundred times more. The world temporarily satisfies the flesh, while God permanently satisfies our spiritual soul which is our personality, will, emotions, and thoughts. We can never fully satisfy our soul through temporary things from the world.

The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. (John 6:63) True life occurs when we are filled with the Holy Spirit which connects us to Christ. Our soul is now connected to Heaven and we are filled with divine blessings that don’t exist in the world.  Our flesh lives in the world while our souls live in the Kingdom with the divine blessings from Heaven. These Heavenly blessings are a hundred times more than anything from the world.

Those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. (Romans 8:14) The Holy Spirit guides us through life with the Lord’s love, wisdom, and power. We now live in the Kingdom in the Lord’s family, and God is our perfect Father. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand (John 10:28) Living in the Lord’s family, we have the promise of eternal life and no one can snatch us out of the Father’s hand. This is security that the world cannot offer, and this security overcomes the fear of physical death which is the door to eternal life.

What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ (Philippians 3:8) This statement by the apostle Paul reveals knowing Christ is a hundred times better than anything the world offers. Paul lost the good life as a Pharisee and experienced a difficult life serving the Lord, but he was close to Christ which was better by far.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” (Matthew 19:23-24) The apostles then asked Jesus, Who then can be saved?” and Jesus answered, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”  I was well off before giving my life to Christ and life is still good. However, God changed my heart to where things of the world are no longer desirable and knowing Christ is a hundred times better; serving Christ is the reason I live. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33) Christ provides all my needs.

Today, seek to be closer to the Lord and notice the peaceful, relaxing state that occurs.  It is impossible to be close to the Lord without being secure and peaceful. Blessings from Heaven are a hundred times better than anything from the world, and when our soul is content from Heaven, we will enjoy the world as God intended.

Prayer: Lord, draw me closer to you and guide me in serving you. Living as your servant, pointing people toward eternal life; this is what I was created to do.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
