Power Over Satan
But each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
James 1:14-15
The Lord gives us power to overcome Satan’s temptations, but we have to learn how to use the Lord’s power. We overcome our evil desire through the love and power from Christ, before the sin is conceived and gives birth to sin. We call on Christ and his power to make the evil from Satan flee.
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13) When Satan tempts us it never beyond what we can bear, and he will provide and escape. Satan tempts our sinful desire, and we have to call on Christ before we step into our sinful desire.
When we fight Satan, we act fast in calling on Christ, because Satan knows our weaknesses, and he picks the time when we are most vulnerable to yield to his temptations. Therefore, we have to act fast before the sin is conceived by our own sinful desire. We overcome Satan by being calm on the inside and respond with well know scripture. This will slow down the emotion and help us to call on Christ with his power to make Satan flee.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12) Our enemy is Satan the author of all evil on the world, and people are not our enemy, even though they don’t know Christ. Christ gives us power over Satan, and his evil in people.
Today let Christ make Satan flee when tempted by Satan.
