Never Change God’s Word

Posted on

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.

Isaiah 40:8

Satan’s goal is to have people change God’s Word to suit their own desires. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4) Today there are people and churches who are changing the Bible to suit their desires.  They are saying the Bible is outdated which is lie from Satan that many people believe.  Saying the Word is outdated is like saying God is outdated.

The Word of God is for all time because it is written for people, and people have remained the same for all time. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) Every person who has ever lived will be judged by God through Christ. God will make a perfect judgment of every person by looking at their hearts.

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (John 8:32) The Truth will always come from God’s Word, and never from our truth. People are tempted by Satan to mix our truth with God’s truth, and then, he tempts us to justify our decisions.  We can be influenced by other people within the church, including some ministers. That is why we always make sure what we hear or read agrees with God’s Word.  Our eternal life is based on God’s Truth, and living by His Truth.

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3) No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13) From these two verses, we can consider our worst enemy — ourselves.

Since we are our worst enemy, then we must pray that God judges our life and tells us if anything we are thinking or doing that is displeasing to him. In the church, we are to hold each other accountable, but we can easily hide our behavior from everyone. We need accountability because we can easily justify our choices, unaware that sometimes we may be displeasing to God. Therefore, we obey the Word to the best of our ability, we pray for God’s power, and we pray for God to be our judge.

Today, live by the Word and its Truth. Know you will be judged by the Word, and it will never be outdated; it is the road to eternal life.

Prayer: Lord, help me to live by your word, and may my life be pleasing to you. Guide me to understand the Truth of your Word.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
