Love God

Posted on

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.

1 John 2:15

If we are a true Christian living for Christ, our love for God is more than our love for worldly desires. Our earthly body craves things of the earth, but worldly things never satisfying our spiritual soul the way God satisfies our soul with blessings that last forever.

The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you–they are full of the Spirit and life (John 6:63). The Spirit provides life to our soul and the more our thoughts are spiritually oriented, the more our soul is satisfied. Jesus is telling us the Spirit gives life to our soul and the flesh counts for nothing in satisfying our soul. If our soul is not satisfied, we will never be satisfied, and those who don’t know Christ, haven’t experienced satisfaction and contentment that comes from God.

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. (Romans 8:5). Our hearts are revealed by our thoughts, and the more our thoughts are directed toward the Spirit, the less they are on the world and its desires. We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands (1 John 2:3). The priority in our hearts changes to minister to lost souls, and less about our worldly desires.

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Christians have a thankful heart knowing heaven is there home and the Lord is always with them. A thankful heart is a satisfied heart, content with what the Lord provides for our worldly needs. He enables us to provide the needs for ourselves and our families, as we give God priority and walk in Godly wisdom. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well (Matthew 6:33).

We are created in the image of God and our soul needs to be filled with the love, peace, and joy from the Holy Spirit, and when our thoughts of our heart are centered on God, we have a thankful heart because Christ provides our needs that leads us to eternal life

Today focus on spiritual things, seek to encourage others, and reflect Christ to everyone., because this is our divine calling. Being Christ-like, pointing people to Christ will become the top priority in our life, and the cravings of worldly things will essentially disappear.

Prayer: Lord, guide me in the Spirit to live for Christ and let this be the number priority in my life. In Jesus name, Amen
