Lord Help My Faith

Posted on

I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!

Mark 9:24

The above scripture is a father’s remark in regards to Jesus healing his son. Jesus said, Everything is possible for one who believes.” What do think Jesus thoughts were when the father said “help me overcome my unbelief.”

We read the Word and to build our own personal faith, because faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). The more we are reading the Word the more faith we will have. In Hebrews we read about people in the Old Testament who are commended for their faith. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6) Nothing pleases God more than for us to trust him and reap his divine blessings.

We may be praying and we are not seeing God answering our prayer. Faith is not God answering our prayer as we desire, but faith is praying and leaving the answer in God’s hands. Knowing that God hears our prayer, and knowing he will answer our prayer according to his divine wisdom; this is the faith that please him. We may not understand God’s answer to prayer or agree with his answer, but he is God and we cannot fully understand his ways this side of eternity.

The more obedient we are to the Lord the more confident we are that he will answer our prayer. If our focus is on serving the Lord, introducing people to the kingdom of God, then we are pleasing to God. Through obedience to God’s will, prayer, and studying his Word, the closer relationship we will have with the Lord, thereby giving us more faith. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (James 5:16)

Today walk in faith, communing with the Lord and asking him for the wisdom and the words in your conversations. Invite the Lord into your day to help with you in relationships and making choices in your thoughts, words, and actions. The more you see the Lord helping you in the little things of the day, the more you will trust the Lord. When the Lord sees you seeking him and trusting him in little things, it opens the door so you can trust him with bigger things in life.

Prayer – Holy Father in heaven, help my faith to increase as I read and study your Word. Help me to seek your guidance today in my relationships and my choices. Continue to be with me and help me to be a Christ-like influence on those around me. In Jesus name, Amen.
