Live by the Lord’s Timing

Posted on

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5-6

The Lord hears our prayers, but many times we must wait to hear his answer, because we don’t fully understand the Lord’s ways. One reason the Lord’s answers are delayed, because he changes us, and that takes time. I read the verse in Hebrews where it says: “Without faith it is impossible to please God.”  Roughly 15 months later I realized my faith had changed and it was now pleasing to God.  Looking back over the 15 months I could understand how the Lord changed me such that my faith was pleasing to him. At the other extreme when I go to teach a class and pray for Christ to guide my thoughts and words, the Lord answers immediately.

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.  (Psalm 24:7) Often we must wait on the Lord even when are prayers are urgent, but we keep our faith because the Lord always answers our prayer. The answer may not the answer we expect, but as we look back, we will understand his answer, and often it is more than what we prayed.  It’s important to always trust the Lord and not lean our understanding, because the Lord knows our situation and he has a divine answer.  Sometimes the answer to our pray is to late and our life is in a hurting position, but if wait we may find he has a better answer, or he may guide us into a better position.

It’s important while waiting for the Lord that we pray for his wisdom, explore options, and we keep serving Christ being a light to people. When we live to serve the Lord as our priority, he will enable us to survive in this world. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33) This is a promise of God, we put serving Christ as our priority, he will provide for our worldly needs.  This is not the way of the world but it is the way of God, and it takes strong faith and patience.

Today live with the Lord’s timing and always trust him. Serve him through Christ and keep praying for the Lord to enable you to provide for your worldly needs. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive. (Luke 11:2-3) This is the Lord’s prayer and he is telling us pray for our daily bread, the things we need to survive in the world.

Prayer: Give me patience and faith no matter how you answer my prayer, and I pray that my prayers are in your will and for your glory. In Jesus name, Amen
