Life on the Narrow Road

Posted on

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

Matthew 7:13-14

People living on the Narrow Road have the Light of Christ at the end of the road showing the way to eternal life.  While people on the Wide Road live in darkness with no light guiding them to eternal life.  Living on the Narrow Road, our spiritual soul lives for eternal life, while our flesh lives in the day-to-day, cyclic nature of earthly life. Those on the Wide Road live only for the day-to- day cycles of earthly life.

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27) Our spiritual soul was not created to live in the worldly, cyclic nature where things are always changing. Our soul was created to be with God where things are perfect and where there is no need to change. God makes it possible for our soul to overcome living according to the worldly cyclic nature.  We overcome by living with our minds focused on reaching the Light at the end of the Narrow Road. Our thoughts keep us on the narrow road and our soul lives in the Kingdom which is within us, and there is no need for change.

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. (Romans 8:5) Where our thoughts go is where our soul goes. If we are spiritually minded, we move toward the Light where life continues to get more fulfilling because we are getting closer to the Lord. Our soul is not living in the changing, cyclic nature of the world, but we are living in the unchanging Word of God guided by the unchanging nature of Christ.  Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) We are content because our soul is living as created.

The world cannot bring lasting peace and joy to our souls because everything in the world is temporary and changing. Only God can feed our souls with the blessings from Heaven through the Spirit. These blessings last forever and never change; they just get stronger and more powerful in our souls as our souls gets closer to the Lord.

Today, know that every soul needs Christ to guide them down the Narrow Road to the Light. Our soul was not created to live in the changing nature of this world.  Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2)  Do not let your soul conform to changing nature of the world, but let God transform your minds to live in His pleasing and perfect will, living in the unchanging nature of God.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for guiding me with your unchanging nature down the Narrow Road to the Light of eternal life. Serving your unchanging nature is a new blessing that reached my heart through a sermon from my minister. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
