Never Doubt God
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
James 1:6
God is always faithful to His promises, but Satan tempts us to doubt God. God does not always answer our prayers according to our understanding, and this can cause us to doubt if we always expect God to answer our prayers our way and in our timing.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6) Our faith is critically important because it reveals how well we know God. If our faith pleases God, then our doubt will disappear.
Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. (Matthew 21:21) Jesus uses this verse to reveal the power of prayer when we overcome doubt.
As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9) God’s thoughts and ways are always above our thoughts and ways, and this can cause us to have some level of doubt. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6 NASB) This verse tells us the faith that pleases God – that we trust God’s ways over our own understanding. We live as the Lord’s servants and we see Christ as the Master.
Overcoming doubt can be difficult in our strength, therefore we pray that the Lord will take away our doubt by His divine power. Satan will always tempt us to doubt God, therefore we must tell the Lord that we always trust His ways no matter what happens in our life. We pray through the Spirit, we live as the Lord’s servants, and we trust God’s thoughts and ways over our thoughts and ways because He is God, and He loves us perfectly.
Today, tell yourself that you will believe all of God’s promises and His answers to your prayers. Live today as the Lord’s servant guided by the Spirit and see Christ as your Master. Know He is always with you and His ways are perfect.
Prayer: Lord, take away any doubt so I can fully trust you in all situations. I know how powerful your love is and that your thoughts and ways are perfect. Just guide me through the Spirit to serve Christ as you change me to be more like Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen
