Life is a Mist

Posted on

Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

James 4:14

Life on earth is short, and it’s the only time we have to get right with God. Each day may seem long, but before we know years have passed. We have no time to wait to follow Christ through the Holy Spirit, and no one is promised tomorrow, so we should be ready to leave this earth for our eternal heavenly home.

Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow. (Psalm 144:4) The Lord is telling us how short this life is, especially when compared to eternity. When we die our soul and spirit live for eternity. And this life is the only chance we have to read and obey the Word, have a Church family, and bring people to Christ. We have no time to waste on this earth, because we have a short time to serve Christ.

Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. (Proverbs 27:1) No one is promised tomorrow, and everyone should be ready to leave this earth for their Heavenly Home. The most fulfilling life is knowing the Word and serving Christ, as he leads us down the narrow road to Heaven. And it the most fulfilling life because we are created in the image of God.

“O LORD, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am! (Psalm 39:4) We pray for the Lord to help us to know how fleeting our life is on earth. The closer to Christ we become, our hearts drive us to tell others about eternal life through Christ; and the more scriptures we memorize.

Today live to serve Christ and tell others about eternal life, because no one is promised tomorrow.

Prayer: Lord help be to know how fleeting my life is on earth, and to live every day for eternal life. In Jesus name, Amen
