How to Know God
DDear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
1 John 4:7
A heart of love really connects us to God, because we better understand Christ, his words and his emotions. When we read the Word, we will better understand God the Father and Jesus, because we will have the same feelings and emotions.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these. (Mark 12:30-31) A heart of love is the most important command, because it opens our heart to help others and to tell them about salvation in Christ. How can we minister to people without a heart of love that cares about others?
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. (Romans 8:29) Everyone who excepts Christ are predestined to conform to the image of Jesus, and that is why a heart of love in the greatest command. A heart of love is what makes us more like Jesus, because we have the similar thoughts and emotions.
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4) Without a heart of love it is virtually impossible to know Christ, because we cannot fully identify with Him as we serve him and read the Word. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. (James 1:22) We obey the Word and we following Christ, because a heart of love motivates us, because we care about people, especially lost souls.
If Christians don’t tell people about Christ, then who is? We ask the Lord to guide us to lost souls. Satan has turned a lot of people and governments against Christians, but Christ will always find a way to let others know about Christ. The more we bring others to Christ, the more love God puts in our hearts, which increases our motivation, and makes us more dependent on Christ.
Today pray for Christ’s guidance to bring others to salvation in Christ.
