Heaven is Your Home
For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.Hebrews 13:14
We are created to live forever in Heaven with the Father and the Son, on the new earth where life is better than we can ever imagine. Our life on earth is the only chance we have for our name to be in the book of life.
If we live by the Word, God will mold our minds and hearts to that of Christ, resulting in a close relationship with the Lord. The closer we are to the Lord, the more we desire to be with him in Heaven. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. (Philippians 1:21) Paul was so close to Christ he was ready to be with Christ. In Heaven we will be with the Father and the Son, and what would Heaven be like without the Father and the Son? Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:3)
See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. (Isaiah 65:17) When we enter Heaven, we will a new life with the Father and the Son; and our motivation for Heaven comes from our desire to be with the Father and the Son. We are getting closer to the Lord in this life because he is always with us, guides us to Heavenly home, and he loves us more than we can comprehend.
Living to be with the with the Father and the Son makes endurance in this life easier. We can endure anything because our reward is eternal. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28) Knowing Heaven is our home means we never die, only the flesh dies but our soul continues to live with a new younger body that never ages.
Knowing in our hearts that Heaven is our home helps us live by the Spirit and not by our fleshly desires from this world. Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. (Romans 8:5) Our hearts now reveal thoughts from the Spirit and not from the world, and the only reason for existing in this world is to tell people about eternal life through Christ.
Today be mindful that Heaven is your permanent home, and live for eternal life.
Prayer: Thank you Lord, for putting eternity in my heart, and let the Heavenly life drive my thoughts, words, and actions. In Jesus’ name, Amen
