God’s Unconditional Love

Posted on

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

Matthew 5:43-45

When we serve Christ, following the Spirit, our hearts get filled with God’s unconditional love.  And like God who loves everyone, we have the same unconditional love for everyone. God is sad and angry when people refuse to find the Truth and seek salvation through his Son who died for our sins. We should feel the same for lost souls, because they have been deceived by Satan and refuse to find the narrow road to eternal life.

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. (1 Corinthians 13:1-3) From these verses we are told we must have hearts of God’s love, because love is the foundation of the Christian life.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:2) We love all people but our war is against the powers of this world and the evil forces in the spiritual world. We care about lost souls and through the power of Christ we seek to bring them God’s truth. Only God changes people, but our task is to plant God’s Truth with love and compassion.

We can seek to water the Word we have planted by inviting them to church or continue to meet with them to present more of God’s truth. We must have Christ guiding us as we reflect God’s unconditional love and forgiveness. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16) We bring the Word to lost souls, revealing scriptures of God’s unconditional love and how they can become a new creation is Christ. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Today reflect God’s unconditional love, whether driving, with work associates, and everyone you meet. We are to be like Jesus, because God is molding us to conform to his Son. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. (Romans 8:29) When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are predestined to conform the image of his Son.

Prayer: Lord guide me in the Spirit to reflect your unconditional love in every situation. Keep Satan from triggering my emotions to anger against people.  Let my anger always be toward Satan.  In Jesus name, Amen
