Christ Saved Us

Posted on

After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!” Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

Matthew 19:28-30

We all know Jesus took our sins to the cross, bridging the gap between mankind and Heaven. We all know that without Jesus going to the cross, we would be lost, but how often due we thank Jesus for sacrificing his life for our sins, and offering eternal life? We should carry the cross of Jesus in our thoughts every day with a thankful heart, and greatly accepting being Christ’s servant.

Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done. (Luke 22:42) This was Jesus’ prayer in the garden just before he was flogged and crucified. He was in the flesh when he said take this cup from me, but in the Spirit asking that the Fathers will be done. What Jesus endured more than we can understand, not only the pain, but he took our sins and was separated from the Father.  He and the Father are one, and separation from the Father was the greatest pain. We can partially understand because what pain would we experience if were separated from Christ?

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) Christ died for our sins because of his perfect love for the Father and for us, and the Father put his son on the cross to take punishment for our sins, because of the infinite love the Father has for us. Take time and meditate on the great love the Father and the Son have for us as Jesus fulfilled the Father’s plan to save us. We cannot imagine how much the Father and the Son want be with us in Heaven.

The Father has loved us so much that we are called children of God. And we really are his children. (1 John 3:1) The Father loves us so much he recognizes us as his children, and we have the perfect Father who desires to bless us and guide us through life into Heaven. And like a perfect Father he protects us and he blesses us. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. (John 10:28) The Lord and his divine power will let nothing snatch us out of his hand.

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13) This promise from God is powerful, because we know there is no temptation that we cannot bear, but there is always an escape through the power and love of Christ.

Walk with Jesus and nothing in this world has the power to take you out the Lord’s hand. We fight sin with the power of Christ, but we are not perfect even though we try to be perfect; and sometimes we sin. We ask for forgiveness with Godly sorrow, and Christ forgives us and gives the power to overcome.

Today remember Jesus has saved you and you are in his family. Christ lives in you through the Holy Spirit and live today with his divine love and guidance.

Prayer: Thank you Lord for saving me, taking my sins to the cross. There is nothing I can do to earn my salvation. But with a heart of love, I surrender my life to serve you, telling others about your divine love.  In Jesus name, Amen
