God is Our Judge

Posted on

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.

Hebrews 9:27

God is our judge and his judgment is based on his Word. We have to be careful not to base our judgment of self on the opinion of others or our own justification.  We can believe anything but we can never change God’s truth. It’s our human nature to justify our Christian life and we can do this ignoring certain Truths, “Out of site out of mind.”  Satan will deceive us by twisting scripture to where you justify your own belief.

I care very little if I am judged by you or by any human court; indeed, I do not even judge myself. For I am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I am not by this acquitted; but the one who examines me is the Lord. (1 Corinthians 4:3-4) Paul says he is not judged by others and he does judge himself.   He says he is not acquitted but he is examined by the Lord.  We should do the same and do our best to follow scripture and pray for forgiveness because we are not perfect.  Ask Christ to guide us to overcome any thoughts or behaviors that are not pleasing to Him. It is so easy for us to justify our Christian life and go by our own judgment, but our judgment will never change God’s judgment.

There is no command in the Bible that we cannot achieve and be rewarded for if we obey. Christians have told me they can never achieve a certain command, such as: But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. (Matthew 5:44) In our own strength, we cannot change our heart to obey all God’s commands.  If we pray for the Lord’s divine power and we strive to obey, then He will change our hearts.  When our hearts are filled with God’s unconditional love, we have changed.  We will never experience life to the full or be close to the Lord unless we do our best and call on the Lord so we can obey all His commands with a heart of love.

Today, seek to live for Christ by obeying his commands and pray for His guidance through the Spirit.  Know God is your judge, not others, and not yourself, but try to follow the Spirit.

Prayer:  Lord, I pray for your guidance through the Spirit and I pray that if there is anything in my life that needs to change that you guide me to overcome.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
