Focus on Learning

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Joshua 1:8

To walk with the Lord is the desire to continually learn his ways and to be more Christ-like. Learning is a motivator in our lives because it reveals more about God to us. God is pleased when we seek to know him more and to become more like Jesus.

Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long (Psalm 25:5). As Christians we are always spiritually growing to be more Christ-like. The Bible is alive, meaning that the Lord is with us as we study; there is endless learning about the Lord and his ways. Through Bible study and mentoring to people, we are in a constant state of learning.

If we are motivated to be closer to the Lord we will learn more about his heart and his ways. If we are motivated to learn more about the Lord he will open doors that will lead us to more understanding. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen (2 Peter 3:18). The Lord desires that we seek him and that we grow in our knowledge of him.

Learning more about the Lord is rewarding and exciting and is a great motivator to serve him and study the Word. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good (1 Peter 2:2-3). When we taste that the Lord is good it will motivate us to know more about him.

The lord fills our hearts with his love and we reflect that love to the world with a compassionate and caring heart. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:30-31). God’s love in our hearts enables us to be Christ-like and to minister to the world. This motivates us to be in the Word, in prayer, and in fellowship, because this is how we learn more about the Lord and more about people.

Today motivate your heart to learn about the Lord as you minister to people. The more we understand people, the more we can help and minister to them. So listen and learn today: more about the Lord, and more about people.

Prayer: Lord, guide my heart to learn more about you and about people so I can better serve you. Guide me in the scriptures when I am bringing your truth and love to others. In Jesus name, Amen
