Finding God’s Plan for You

Posted on

Commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will be established.

Proverbs 16:3

I have heard from many Christians who want to know God’s plan for their life. The verse above tells us that if we commit our work to the Lord, over time we will know His plan.  However, the Lord has an ongoing plan for us where He opens doors and closes doors.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:19:20) This command is for all Christians and we ask the Lord to guide us through the Spirit to make disciples.

As we continue to reflect Jesus to everyone, and we pray for opportunities to bring Christ to people, the Lord will open a door. Over time people will recognize that we are a motivated to serve the Lord, then someone may ask us to teach a class, bring a Sunday service at a nursing home, or mentor someone. Every Christian is a witness for Christ both in the church and outside the church.

The Lord will put ideas into our minds, and we pray for guidance in pursuing the idea. In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. (Proverbs 16:9) Through prayer the Lord opens a door, we plan our course through prayer, and the Lord goes with us guiding our steps. If we are motivated and pray for opportunities, our week will be filled serving the Lord, based on the time we have.  If we get over busy then some of the ideas are probably from our thinking, because the Lord will never give us ministry causing us to be over busy.

The Lord will guide us in the Spirit to do things that we have never done before. For example, teach a class, preach a sermon, or mentor someone. We can always pray for someone, encourage others, or tell someone about Christ.  The Lord knows the talents He has given us that we may not be aware of.  When the Spirit guides us, always follow His lead because the Lord knows we can be successful as we develop a skill through the Lord’s divine power.

Today do whatever the Spirit puts on your heart, and know the Lord will open doors to his future plans for you.

Prayer:  Lord guide me in the Spirit to fulfill your plan for my life. Guide me to always give you my best. In Jesus name, Amen
