Fight Satan with Prayer

For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory

Deuteronomy 20:4

It’s the Lord who gives us victory over Satan because Christ has authority over Satan and his demons. Through the Holy Spirit we have the power of Christ to overcome Satan’s temptations in our lives. Prayer is the means by which we call on the Lord to ask for His power to overcome Satan’s influence in our lives and the lives of others. Christians are to call on the Lord through prayer to turn the hearts of persecuting people and governments.

A Christian’s duty is to walk as the Lord’s servant, seeking to point lost souls to Christ. Prayer is a Christian’s connection to God, and our prayers should seek divine power in ministry, the well-being of Christians all over the world, and the Lord’s intervention in the hearts of lost souls. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. (John 14:13-14) We often pray for ourselves, our families and our Christians families, and this is good; but we should take time everyday to pray for the issues that tend to move our government away from God, Christians who live in countries that persecute them, and the lost souls who are blinded from the truth by Satan’s lies.

If all the Christians in all the churches in our country would become dependent on God through prayer, we could change our country through the power of God. All Christians should understand the issues within their homelands that require prayer, so as to focus their prayer requests to God. Pray that the Lord will turn lost souls away from Satan’s lies and toward the truth, for only God has the power to control Satan. Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. (Psalm 2:10-11) Pray and vote for Godly people in our government.

All churches need to be powerful, praying churches to thwart Satan’s attempts to destroy the Church. If all the churches prayed about things in government that were displeasing to God, and were unified in prayer for specific changes, imagine how pleasing that would be to our Lord. Churches must be at the forefront of this spiritual war through the power of prayer. It’s the Lord who fights for us and through us. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen. (Ephesians 3:20)

Today pray for people in the Church, pray for people outside of the Church, and pray for our country. Tell others to pray and remember that we have victory in Christ, but only if we pray specifically for His divine help.

Let’s Pray: Lord, open my heart to become active in fighting Satan in the Church, in the community, in our country, and in the world. Help me to live in prayer, because without Christ I can do nothing, but with Christ I can do all things. In Jesus name, Amen
