Escape to Christ

In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me; turn your ear to me and save me.

Psalm 71:2

The world may turn against us but we have victory by escaping to Christ. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1) Whatever we go through in this life, we can escape to God and receive his strength and help. We cannot minister to this dark world without escaping to the Lord’s power, strength, and courage.

The more we minister to the world, the more Satan will plan his attack on us. But we will have victory when we escape to Christ and this will become natural to us making us dependent on Christ. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16 ESV) We remain near the throne and God will always be there enabling us to escape Satan’s attack.

For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come. (Hebrews 13:14) Life in this sinful world is temporary.  When we take our last breath, our soul leaves this body and we are alive forever. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. (1 Corinthians 15:42-44) Our physical body craves things of the world, while our spiritual body craves things of God.

In our worldly life, we escape to Christ to overcome the world as He guides us down the narrow road toward the eternal Light. Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4) We have the faith to depend on the Lord and to escape in his love to deliver us from evil. The Lord loves us more than we can imagine and he will always deliver us from Satan’s attack when we ask in faith.

Today, overcome evil be escaping to Christ to victory over Satan.  We have power over Satan when we call on Christ for his divine power. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, (Ephesians 3:20) Live today in the power of God!

Prayer: Lord, guide me in Spirit when tempted, to escape in your power to overcome. If I escape in your love I can overcome the world. In Jesus name, Amen
