Do Not Worry

Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Matthew 6:34

The Lord does not want us to worry because we walk in victory knowing he is always with us.  How can we be a witness for Christ if people know we worry about the future when they expect our faith would take away our worry? What does it take to overcome worry?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6) If we can live with this promise in our hearts, we will fully trust the Lord, and he will guide our path through life.  To give up our understanding is something that will normally take time and prayer. The Lord wants us to fully trust him. If we pray to trust him fully, he will guide us through life changing us to trust him.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6) I read this verse and I asked the Lord if my faith was pleasing to him.  If it wasn’t pleasing, I asked him to change me to have faith that was pleasing to him.  For about a year or a little longer, the Lord changed me to have faith pleasing to him, and now life is peaceful and secure, and worry is gone.

The Lord, first, put on my heart to be his servant and, second, to meditate every evening. After learning to be the Lord’s servant and how to meditate, I found myself more in the Word and praying more often. Over time, I began to see the Lord as the Master and I was the servant.  I began to pray every day about serving him and following the Spirit.  Christ got bigger and I got smaller which is good, because I realized he was God and loved me more than I could imagine.  I became dependent on the Lord for everything, and I now live as his servant and have stopped leaning on my own understanding.

What a blessing it is to be close to the Lord and to trust him fully in everything. When we serve the Lord by witnessing to others telling them about Christ, he fills our hearts with his divine unconditional love which draws us closer to him. Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7) The closer we are to the Lord with our thoughts on things above, the more worry will disappear and be replaced by love, peace, and joy.  It’s impossible to be close to the Lord and be filled with fear and worry.  That is the power God can have in our lives. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. (Ephesians 3:20)

Today, seek to be close to the Lord by serving him, and he will take away any worry or anxiety. Pray for peace and joy to reflect to the world and to never reflect worry.

Prayer:  Lord, fill my heart with love, peace, and joy and take away any fear or worry from Satan. I trust you completely as you guide me through this day to be light in this world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
