Divine Freedom
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5:1
True freedom only comes from Christ, and its freedom from the world because Heaven is our home. People who don’t know Christ are slaves to the world, and they are walking through life not knowing where they will spend eternity. No matter where we live in this world, we can be free in Christ, because life is in our spirit and the world cannot touch our spirit. Our life is our spirit and the body is dead without the spirit.
We live for eternal life in Heaven with the Father and the Son, and we see this earthly life as temporary. Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. (James 4:13-14) We can have millions of dollars, but if don’t know Christ we are poor; or we can be poor and know Christ, then we are rich. Christians are free in this world, and we live with the power of Christ.
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. (Matthew 10:28) Christians live for eternity and not for this temporary earthly life; and we live this life to the full as servants of Christ. The only full rewarding life on this planet comes from serving Christ, which is bringing lost souls to Christ. People can believe anything they desire, but God never changes, and they will be judged by the Word. It’s amazing how many people have little or no thought as where they will spend eternity. These people live for there fleshy desires and are slaves to the world.
Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4) We can never be free until we overcome the world, and Christ enables us to overcome the world. We live for eternity which enables us to overcome the world and have divine freedom. And we also have a heart of love, peace, and joy which never goes away.
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36) There is no freedom on the earth that comes close to the freedom we have through Christ. We can have millions of dollars and tremendous power, but we are not free but a slave to the world, because freedom in this world is temporary and freedom from Christ is forever.
Today seek the freedom that only comes from Christ, and live for eternal life knowing Heaven is your home. We are just passing through this temporary earthly life as a light for Christ.
Prayer: Father thanks you for the divine freedom and for eternal life. Guide me to be a light for Christ during my short days on the earth. In Jesus name, Amen
