Christ Sets Us Free

Posted on

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Galatians 5:1

True divine freedom only comes from Christ.  Many people in this world think they are free even though they don’t know Christ.  Satan has filled people with his lies such as: there is no God, there is no hell, everyone goes to Heaven, there are many paths to Heaven, and my good outweighs my bad.  Many people believe these lies, but since we are created by God deep in their soul, there is an uncomfortable feeling that Satan tries to suppress. We can never be free unless we are assured that Heaven is our eternal home and the only way we can be sure is know how God judges us. Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment. (Hebrews 9:27)  It is God who judges us and determines if Heaven is our home.

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36) There is no freedom on earth that compares to the divine freedom that comes from Christ.  Freedom comes from having your life centered in Christ who fills our hearts with his love. God’s love in our hearts overcomes fear from Satan because they both cannot coexist in our hearts.  We can picture this life with our soul in Heaven because we have already started our eternal life.

People say they do not live in fear and have no fear of death because they are confident in the lies from Satan. But they really have no conclusive idea how they are going to be judged except for what they have believed from Satan. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44)  This is what Jesus said to the Pharisees who believed Satan’s lies and were too prideful to accept the truth.

Freedom only comes from Christ when we know and live by God’s truth. So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.(John 8:31-32 NASB)  When our hearts are filled with God’s love, we naturally live by Truth and we are free in Christ. Through the Word, we learn the Truth and we live by the truth; we are free because we know God’s judgment.

Today, be free in Christ by knowing his promises in the Word and refuse to believe Satan’s lies. The goal is to have our spiritual soul living in Kingdom while our flesh lives in the world. The more we can mentally picture this, the more freedom we have in Christ.

Prayer:  Guide me by the Spirit to live in the Kingdom and minister through the flesh. Fill my heart with love and compassion.  Help me to reveal a caring, compassionate heart to lost souls.  Open doors today, to souls that have a heart to hear the good news about Christ. In Jesus name, Amen
