Be Holy
Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.
Hebrews 12:14
Being Holy is to reflect Christ in every situation in life. We are filled with the Holy Spirit and our hearts are filled with God’s love, therefore it is natural for us to be Holy. However Satan can tempt us by placing ungodly people in our path that oppose us trying to incite fear and make us unholy. Being Holy and standing for Christ takes courage because we being holy requires action and self-discipline.
But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:15-16) Jesus was holy and always reflected the Father, even to his last breath on the cross. We are to be Holy and reflect Christ in all we do. Sometimes we may have an opportunity to be Holy and reflect Christ, but we keep quiet. Although there are times when we should keep quiet, when emotions are high and people are unable to hear the truth. It’s good to pray for guidance to reflect Christ.
This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the mysteries God has revealed.(1 Corinthians 4:1) We are called to be servants of Christ and we are entrusted to reveal the mysteries of God, and how can we do this without being Holy? We understand the Word and salvation through Christ, and we are Holy meaning we tell people the good news of Christ referencing scripture. It is always important to backup whatever we say with wit the Truth of scripture.
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7) Satan is tries to tempt us to be unholy and conform to the pattern of the world. Satan does this to us just as he did to the Israelite nation in Biblical days. He enticed the Israelites to conform to people in neighboring nations, walking away from God and worshiping idles. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. (Galatians 5:17) Satan’s goal is for us follow our fleshly desires over being Holy. Being unholy can easily occur depending on the people we associate with, because if we conform to the people we are around, then we are definitely not holy.
Today seek to be Holy in all situations. Be Holy and serve the Lord, taking every opportunity to encourage others and seek to bring Biblical understanding. Always ask the Lord for guidance because he knows the hearts of everyone.
Prayer: Lord, help me to be Holy today and to be your servant. Don’t let Satan do anything to keep me from being holy. In Jesus name, Amen
