Christ is Our Priority

Posted on

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Matthew 6:33

With true faith we put Christ first in our life. Whatever we do we always reflect the love, compassion, and patience with all people. If we put Christ as a priority in our life it will be revealed by our words and actions.

You shall have no other gods before me. (Exodus 20:3) If we place anything in life with a higher priority than Christ, will that be our god? We live a fulfilling life when we reflect Christ; we don’t preach to people but they can tell we are Christians by our words and actions. We live for Christ at all times; we don’t pick and choose when to reflect Christ.

A Christian is filled with the Holy Spirit and Christ speaks to us through Spirit by placing thoughts in our minds.  Thee more we know the Word, the language of God, the more we can follow the Spirit, and the more we think on things above, the more we can follow the Spirit. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (Colossians 3:2) A Christian is always connected to the Lord in both conscious and unconscious thought.

The following is a quote by A.W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God. It describes the heart of a mature Christian. “Many have found the secret of which I speak and, without giving much thought to what is going on within them, constantly practice this habit of inwardly gazing upon God. They know that something inside their hearts sees God. Even when they are compelled to withdraw their conscious attention in order to engage in earthly affairs, there is within them a secret communion always going on. Let their attention but be released for a moment from necessary business and it flies at once to God again. This has been the testimony of many Christians how many I cannot possibly know.”  This reveals the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit, and with this power a Christian will naturally reflect Christ.

And anyone who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. (Matthew 10:38-39) This verse implies that we follow Christ with our thoughts, words, actions; we will find eternal life.

When we put Christ first in our life, we gain freedom. It is for freedom that Christ has set us freeStand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1) So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36) Putting Christ first is the most fulfilling life, because we are living the way we were created; and it brings divine peace and a heart filled with God’s divine love.

Today whatever you are doing, remember to reflect Christ, with kindness, patience, compassion, and with agape love. This is reflecting the heart of Jesus.

Prayer: Lord, help me to put you first in my life and to reflect Christ to everyone. In Jesus name, Amen
