Be Still
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Psalm 46:10
Through the power of God, we can be still inside while the world around us is chaotic. We can live with inner peace because our soul is with God while our flesh is in the world. Since we are spiritual beings, we can be closer to the Lord than we are to the world. This may sound impossible, and it is impossible in our own strength, but all things are possible for God. Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26) If we truly believe this verse, we can be still inside with inner peace.
The scripture, I will be exalted in the earth, implies that we praise and thank God. God doesn’t need our praise because God is self-sufficient and needs nothing. But because he loves us, he wants us to praise him for our benefit. The more we praise and thank the Lord, the more we understand God and receive peace and security. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. (Psalm 63:3-4) Knowing the perfect love God has for us and praising his name comforts us as God’s love fills our soul.
God gives us what we never find in the world — lasting love, peace, and joy which becomes stronger in us the longer we walk with the Lord. But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16) We walk in the Spirit filled with the fruit of the Spirit and we overcome evil by doing good. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:21) We live in victory over Satan’s temptations through the power of God. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. (1 John 4:4) We are God’s family, his children, and he has given us his power to overcome Satan and to overcome the world.
Today, be still inside and walk in the power of God, reflecting his love. Know you have victory in Christ and Heaven is your home. Express joy in your faith and share why you do not live in fear.
Prayer: Lord, help me to be still inside and to live with peace and joy because I live in your eternal family. Thank you, Lord, for always being with me and guiding me through life in your love and power. In Jesus’ name, Amen
