Ask the Lord

Posted on

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Matthew 7:7-8

This verse is es us to ask the Lord. No matter how strong a Christian we are, we need to ask the Lord to guide us every day in his love and wisdom. When we depend on the Lord and seek his guidance in every situation, it keeps us in spirit to reflect Jesus.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5) We need Christ with us at all times because we are bearing fruit by our words and actions. When we minister to someone, we need Christ for the scriptures because Christ knows what that person needs to hear. Christ has divine love, power and understanding in every situation, and that is what we need to witness to people.

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. (John 16:13-14) Christ speaks to us through the Spirit, and the Spirit makes known to us what Christ wants us to know. This is guidance we need to bear fruit, with our words and with our actions and attitude. We are told to ask because we live to minister to the world, and we depend on the Lord for his divine guidance.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20) The apostle Paul depended on Christ being with him at all times, and he must have continually asked for His divine guidance. Paul ministered to everyone, and he wrote many letters to the churches he helped to establish. He was dependent on Christ for his words and actions, and he is example for us that we should depend on Christ for our words and actions.

Today, ask the Lord for guidance for your words and actions. Satan will attack our emotions, but if we are asking the Lord for his guidance, it will help to keep our emotions in control.

Prayer: Lord, guide me through this day and give me the words and scriptures when ministering to someone. I need your divine power and understanding to be a light in this world.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
