Ask the Lord

Posted on

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Matthew 7:7-8

Whatever we need we ask the Lord for his power and guidance, because we depend on the Lord more than self. If we ask the Lord to be with us in our ministry, he promises to be with us and guide our thoughts and words. We can always depend on the Lord when are seeking to do his will.

Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. (Mark 11:22-23) This verse reveals the power we have when we put our faith in God and believe in our hearts. When we ask the Lord, we ask with faith and dependence on the Lord for his help and guidance.

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. (Psalm 27:14) When we ask the Lord, we must have patience and wait on the Lord, for sometimes it takes months because he changes us, and after the change we will realize his answer. Other cases such as ministering to someone, we ask for the Lord to guide our thoughts and words, and he answers our request. Christ is always with us when we minister to others, especially when we ask for his guidance before and during our ministering. The Lord is with us and he places thoughts in our minds through the Spirit as we are ministering to someone. We remain calm and still inside, and gentle with our voice, that way we can speak the words Christ has given us, and being gentle with our words is the best way to minister to others.

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; (James 1:19) We listen and we are slow to speak so we can hear the thoughts from the Lord, and as we minister to people, we have a dialog going with Lord asking for his guidance. The Lord desires to help us because he puts the Spirit in us, and when we ask for his guidance, he is eager to supply our thoughts and words. But we truly depend on the Lord, and we are still inside, words will flow out of mouths that come from Christ.

Today ask for the Lord’s guidance and be still inside, and new thoughts will come into your mind to say to others. After a while you will speak the words from the Lord and it will become natural.

Prayer: Lord I ask that my thoughts and words come from Christ in every situation. In Jesus name, Amen
