Be Still and Wait on the Lord

Posted on

My soul, wait in silence for God only, for my hope is from Him.

Psalm 62:5

We wait on the Lord because he does more than we ask, and it takes time for God to change a person. We walk with the Lord each day being a light for Christ, and the Lord is in the process of changing us to the mind and heart of Christ. Sometime later we can notice the change the Lord has made in us, and we can look back and understand the process that changed us.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; (Proverbs 3:5) If we desire for the Lord to changes us or answer our prayers, we need the faith that doesn’t lean on our understanding. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9) If we truly know God and his perfect love for us, we will fully trust his ways over our ways, and we will be patient and wait on the Lord.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10) If we are still inside, we can wait on the Lord as he guides us when we are ministering to someone. We wait and we listen with patience as the Lord places thoughts in our mind to say to the person we are ministering. If we are not still inside, we will never hear the Lord’s thoughts, because we are not listening. We must be still inside, patient, wait and listen, and the Lord will guide us in any situation.

Satan’s does not want us to hear the Lord’s thoughts, and his goal is to keep our minds busy so we want be still inside, and we want wait to hear the Lord. Satan’s goal is to fill our minds with our thoughts, preferably about things of the world. And most people in this world do exactly what Satan desires, keeping their thoughts away from God, and living for their fleshy desires. But if we are still inside and wait on the Lord, we can overcome Satan’s attack and control our thoughts.

Today wait on the Lord and continue to serve the Him. Later you will see the results of what the Lord has done for you, and how he has changed you to be more like Jesus.

Prayer:  Lord help be to be patient and wait, and to continue serving you. Help me to be still inside and seek to live each moment with divine purpose. In Jesus name, Amen
