What the Holy Spirit Does for Us

Posted on

And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

Ezekiel 36:27

These are the words from God telling us that the Spirit will move us to follow the Lord’s will. The Spirit changes our heart giving us the desire to obey God’s good, pleasing, and perfect will.  I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh – and give them a heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 11:19) The Spirit changes our worldly heart to Godly heart.

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. (John 16:13) The Spirit guides us into all truth by enabling us to understand the deep things of God from the Word. The Spirit only speaks what he hears; the words of Christ come to us through the Spirit and our words are sent to Christ through the Spirit. The Spirit allows Christ to live in us. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. (John 15:4) It is the Holy Spirit that enables us to remain in Christ.

The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. (Romans 8:26) The Spirit intercedes for us in our prayers revealing our heart to Christ and revealing what we need so we can be more Christ–like. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. (1 Corinthians 2:11) The Spirit enables us to understand the Word of God and opens the word to us and makes it alive.

For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. (Romans 8:14) Christ guides our life through the Spirit and we are in the family and God is our Father. God blesses and watches over those in His family. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. (John 10:28) We are servants in God’s family, He gives us eternal life, and no one will snatch us out of His hands.

Today, know you have eternal life and that you are in the family of God. Know that Christ is with you and will guide you in every situation that occurs because all things are possible for God.

Prayer:  Lord, thank you for bringing me into your family. Guide me to return that love by serving Christ by telling the world how much Christ loves them.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
