Truth is Stronger than Emotions
God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.
Hebrews 6:18
Our emotions may drive our thoughts, but we hold to God’s truth because it is impossible for God to lie. Whatever is happening in our life, we can always depend on God’s truth and we can rely on his promises. Our spiritual walk with the Lord is not based on our feelings, but it is based on truth, because Satan will use our emotions to pull us away from God.
God will use our emotions of peace and joy from the Spirit to know he is present with us. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Even if you don’t feel the Lord’s presence or he hasn’t answered your prayers, continue to trust the Lord and continue to serve him. Because Satan will use our emotions to try to destroy our faith by creating doubt in our hearts, our faith in the Lord needs to be the strongest when it is most difficult time for us.
For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” (Romans 1:17) We live by faith, which means we trust the Lord at all times, independent of what is happening in our life. If our faith varies based on how we feel and what is happening in our life, then do we truly have faith? And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6) The faith that pleases God is faith that always trusts his ways and his timing.
Today trust the Lord and his guidance no matter what happens. Continue to trust him each day and never stop trusting him. This will be pleasing to God and shows you believe his Truth — it is impossible for him to lie.
Prayer: Lord, keep Satan from controlling my emotions in his effort to destroy my faith. Guide me in your Truth and help me to live by your Truth. In Jesus name’, Amen
