True Faith

Posted on

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

Faith is the foundation of the Christian life, because every blessing from God comes through faith. Faith is how we show that we know the Father and the Son, and believe the promises in the Word.

But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. (James 1:6) One aspect of faith is when through pray, do we trust God’s will over our will in whatever we pray? Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; (Proverbs 3:5)

If we view God for who he really is, then we will view ourselves for who we really are. The more we know God, his attributes and his love, our faith will move towards perfect. Who can fathom the Spirit of the Lord, or instruct the Lord as his counselor? (Isaiah 40:13) Who are we not to accept God’s way? God knows us better than we know ourselves, he knows every situation in our life, he guides us through every situation in life, and he is making us more like Jesus.

The most critical need for faith is surrendering our life to Christ, letting his divine will override our will. We strive to fully surrender to Christ and we pray for his guidance to make it happen. As we surrender to Christ we will walk in his power and courage, with a heart of love and compassion. When we live to serve Christ, we will be free because we have overcome the world. Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4) How can we overcome the world without faith?

Because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. (James 1:3) The Lord tests our faith through life’s situations, to know whether we trust God or do we trust ourselves? Faith becomes powerful when we depend on God for everything, with a thankful heart. What is faith without dependence?

When the Spirit calls us to do something, and Satan places fear in our minds, remember faith is stronger than fear. And faith leads our hearts to be filled with God’s love, which casts out fear. When our hearts are filled with God’s love, we can endure anything because Christ is with us, and gives us his strength. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:20)

Today walk by faith and know Christ is with you. Pray that he will guide you to be a light to others.

Prayer:  Lord continue to increase my faith to where I always depend on you to guide me through each day. In Jesus name, Amen
