All Things Become New

Posted on

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.

2 Corinthians 5:17

What does it mean “all things become new?”  All things must mean we become a new creation because we are born of God, and the world around must become new; but how can the world become new? The world is basically the same before I gave my life to Christ as it is today fourteen years later.  However today I see the world differently because God has made me new creation in Christ. Today I enjoy life more than ever before and I enjoy things today that I never even noticed in years past.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.  (John 10:10) I will try to explain life to the full from my experience. But first I will describe how the full life is acquired.

When we accept Christ we receive the Holy Spirit. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23) The fruit of the Spirit comes from God to us through the Holy Spirit which lives in us, and is able to feed our soul continuous love, peace, joy and the characteristics of God. The longer we walk with the Lord, growing in love and faith, the closer we are to the Holy Spirit and the fruit gets stronger in us. This means as we continually walk with the Lord our life becomes more fulfilling.  Life is better from the inside out, the longer we walk with the Lord. Is there anything in this world that gives us love, peace, and joy, the longer we have it?

When we accept Christ as our Savior, all things become new—our life becomes new. This new life starts by learning about our Lord and seeking a close, personal relationship with him through the indwelling Holy Spirit. This new life is depicted in the following figure.

Our new life consists of reading God’s Word, praying, and having fellowship with our church family. Obedience is putting God’s Word into action so we can experience God in our lives. We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. (1 John 2:3) Reading God’s Word, praying, and experiencing Christian fellowship, followed by obedience to God’s good, pleasing, and perfect will, continues through our life. It is essential for our spiritual growth.

Today see the world through the eyes of Christ by leaving your worries with the Lord and walking in peace, noticing the beauty of God’s creation.  Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them?” declares the Lord. “Do not I fill heaven and earth?” declares the Lord. (Jeremiah 23:24) Live relaxed today knowing the Lord is with you and loves you.  Live this day to the full in Christ by being a light in the world.

Prayer:  Lord thank you for all things new, for making me knew and for helping me to see the world through your eyes. Help me to see you everywhere today and to know and feel your presence with me. In Jesus name, Amen
