The Mind of Christ

Posted on

"Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:16

The Word tells us that God is molding us to the mind of Christ. Romans 8:29 states that when we accept Christ we are predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son. Jesus walked this earth, and if we have the same mindset then we will walk the earth the same as Jesus.

The first and most important aspect of the mind of Christ is a heart of love, because God is defined as Love. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4:8) Love is the foundation of the Christian life and God’s love changes our hearts. A heart filled with God’s love seeks to know God and obey him through our faith. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13).

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: (Philippians 2:5) We will look at Philippians 2 because it describes the mind of Jesus.

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. (Philippians 2:6-7) Jesus was God in the flesh, and he came to serve mankind. He came to save mankind with a servant’s heart filled with love.

And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! (Philippians 2:8) Jesus humbled himself and gave his life to save mankind, to redeem mankind to the Father. He did this not by lording over people, or by being prideful, but he came to mankind with a humble serving heart, willing to die for our sins.

These verses describe the heart of Jesus and his desire to save us. Everything in Jesus’ life was. I have glorified You on the earth by completing the work You gave me to do. (John 17:4) Jesus lived his life for the Father and fulfilled his purpose for living on earth. He revealed the heart of God, showed us how to live our life with the mind of Christ, and he gave his life to redeem us to God.

We have the mind of Christ so we can live the life of Christ, and we live the life of Christ because Christ lives in us through the Holy Spirit. Our priority in life is the same as Jesus’ priority, pointing souls toward the kingdom through a serving, loving heart. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, (Colossians 3:22). We do everything with a surrendered heart of love, working for Christ as Christ lives in us. This is our purpose, and this divine purpose will never leave our mind, with a mind of Christ.

Today, experience the mind of Christ by walking with a humble, serving, loving heart, always knowing your divine purpose. Whatever you do today, give it your best because you are doing it for the Lord. Experience the fulfillment and satisfaction of doing everything for the Lord.

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for molding me to have the mind of your Son. Help me to live the life of Jesus and experience his love, peace, and joy. Just as Jesus was a light in this world, help me to be a light in this world as people see Jesus in me. In Jesus name, Amen.
