Seeking God’s Plan

Posted on

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11

The Lord has a plan for each of us, but are we fulfilling his plan? If we seek guidance by the Spirit then we are most likely fulfilling the Lord’s will.  We each have different interests in serving the Lord but sometimes the Lord opens a door to serve him, and we may be fearful because we are doing something we have never done before.

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps. (Proverbs 16:9) The Lord can place thoughts in our minds and hearts, giving us a step in his plan for us. We plan our course through prayer and the Lord guides our steps through the Spirit.  It’s important that we depend on the Lord to be with us because without Christ we can do nothing. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5) The more we depend on the Lord through his Word and prayer, the easier we follow the Spirit.

For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. (Romans 8:14) Christ guides our steps through the Spirit to fulfill his plan. Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. (Psalm 46:10) The Lord’s plan for us is always for our benefit and for his glory.  If we are still inside and living for the Lord’s glory, then we are more apt to hear the Spirit.  It’s important to be still inside and living for the glory of the Lord in order to mature in his plan.

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.(Colossians 2:6-7) The Lord’s matures us as we serve him and he continues to mold us to fulfill his plan. We continually improve in following the Spirit, and often the Lord will expand our ministry.

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30) We fight Satan’s temptations and become strong spiritual warriors, but if Satan has a foothold in our life it can affect us in fulfilling the Lord’s plan. We may not spiritually grow in our ministry.

Today seek to fulfill the Lord’s plan. Pray that you know his plan and walk in his plan.  Pray for spiritual growth and to fulfill his plan. The more we are motivated to serve the Lord and fulfill his plan the easier it is to follow the Spirit.

Prayer:  Lord, guide me to fulfill your divine pan for my life. Guide me each day in the Spirit to fulfill your will. Help me to be still inside and hear the Spirit and live for your glory. In Jesus name, Amen
