Put on Your Armor, You’re Going to War

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

Ephesians 6:11

Satan’s goal is to hurt God by destroying Christians, and he does this by tempting each of us individually; by destroying the family, and by destroying the church. He attempts to destroy the church from within using self-centered members, by physically attacking the church and putting fear into our hearts, and by influencing secular lawmakers to pass anti-Christian legislation.

We fight this spiritual war in the same arena as Satan fights. We fight for our individual souls and we fight for all of God’s people. We support Christians in foreign missionary fields, as well as our local church leaders and ministries that are bringing God’s truth to the world. We also support our government officials in doing God’s will. The church is to be a witness to the world, especially in the local community. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden (Matthew 5:14).

We fight this spiritual war both individually and as a team. Every day we fight Satan’s temptations through the power of Christ, and we support and motivate church activities in the community and throughout the world. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:57). We have victory in Christ, but only if we fight in this spiritual war. When we call on Christ for his love, guidance, wisdom, and strength, he will lead us to victory over Satan and his demons, no matter where or who the battle is with. Satan has his people in every area of life, and we need strong Christians to be a light for Christ in every area of life.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen (Ephesians 3:20). If we are silent in fighting Satan in this world, then God’s power cannot work through us and Satan wins. Christians are courageous and stand up for Christ in all areas of life, because we know that all things are possible for God and there is always victory in Christ. When Christ went to the cross, it was the greatest victory the world has ever known.

For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:36-37). As long as we live on this earth we fight this spiritual war, not just for ourselves, but for Christians all over the world, and we fight this battle in every area that Satan is attacking. If we don’t fight, God will not give us victory. King David never lost a battle because he called on God for guidance, then he went out fought to the best of his ability, following God’s instructions.

Today walk wearing the full armor of God, because you are in a spiritual war and the enemy is everywhere. Remember that you walk with the sovereign God, creator of all things, and God has given you power over Satan and his demons. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Let’s Pray: Lord thank you for giving me victory in Christ, and help me to live in that victory. Guide me to fight the spiritual war for all Christians, and to fight knowing I have the power of Christ working through me. Keep me courageous in your strength, and help me to reflect your love and compassion in all situations. In Jesus name, Amen
