Praying in the Spirit
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Ephesians 6:18
The Spirit controls everything in creation. We are spiritual beings; the soul is our thoughts, personality, emotions and will. Satan and his demons are spiritual, and God is spiritual and is sovereign over all creation. So when we pray in the spirit we are praying to God who controls all things spiritual and physical.
Praying in the Spirit is understood as praying for what the Spirit puts on our hearts. Our prayers go to Christ and if the prayer brings glory to God the prayer is answered. Many people pray for people in the church and people they know, but don’t pray for people all over the world. Our prayers go to God through Jesus Christ, and there are no time or space barriers between the Lord and the person you’re praying for.
So when you pray forget about physical separation because your prayers are in the Spirit where distance has no meaning. Ephesians 6:18 above says pray for all the Lord’s people, and this is a prayer for Christians all over the world. First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:1-4). From these verses we are to pray for all those in authority so our country can live a tranquil and quiet life with freedom of religion, and we are to pray for all men. How can we pray and fulfill these and other verses if there are physical boundaries on our prayers?
Today pray in the spirit and do not limit your prayers on the basis of physical boundaries. Pray for others all over the world not just for those closest to you because you will be severely limiting the power of your prayer.
A Prayer: Lord, guide me to pray for others all over the world and open my mind to know the truth of what is happening in other countries and in my own country. Help me to pray with a heart that really cares about all the saints, lost souls, and my enemies. In Jesus name, Amen
