Lord of Our Circumstances

Posted on

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Romans 12:12

We all experience difficult circumstances in life but we can be confident in the Lord’s love and power that he will guide us to success. Living as the Lord’s servants we know the master always takes care of his servants. The more we serve the Lord from a heart of love the more secure we can be that he is with us and will carry us through any circumstance that Satan puts in our path.

Serving the Lord means reflecting Christ to everyone by pointing them toward the Kingdom, and it is the most important and fulfilling thing we do in this life. As the Lord guides us through difficult circumstances, serving him takes our minds off ourselves and gives us a level of peace and confidence that allows us to more efficiently follow the Spirit to victory. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well (Matthew 6:33). This verse talks about our physical needs, which are met for those who seek and serve his kingdom above any circumstance in their own lives.

Faith and patience are necessary for us to follow the Spirit. Without faith it is very difficult to have patience and wait upon the Lord. From Romans 12:12 above, we are to be joyful in hope, because we are confident that the Lord will successfully guide us through all difficult circumstances.   It is important to continue in prayer, as this can increase our faith and give us patience. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint (Isaiah 40:41).

Seeking the Lord’s guidance in difficult times, being faithful in prayer, and patient in affliction shows our love and trust in the Lord. When our lives are pleasing to the Lord the blessings will flow. Remember, the priority for the Lord is to mold us to conform to the image of his Son so that we can know him better and have a closer fellowship. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters (Romans 8:29). Those who choose to accept Christ as their Savior, God will mold to the image of his Son.

Today be hopeful in prayer and patient in your circumstances. When we put our hope in Christ and walk in obedience to his divine will, we can be confident that he will carry us through any storm in life and into Heaven with him. Put your faith in the Lord and walk in his power.

Prayer: Lord, give me faith and patience to walk through life with you, whether in good or bad circumstances. Mold me to be like Christ so that I can walk with you in the confidence that I am closer to you than to the world, minimizing the power of life’s circumstances. In Jesus name, Amen
