Live with Godly Wisdom

Posted on

Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.

Proverbs 4:6

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. (James 1:5) From this verse, it seems if we want wisdom from God we simply pray for wisdom. This is true, but how does God give us that wisdom? God gives us whatever we need to be more Christ-like, including wisdom, by guiding us in the Spirit. If we pray for wisdom, the Lord will impart wisdom in our minds and hearts as we live according to the Spirit’s guidance.

Wisdom is reflected by our choices; in thought, word, and action; and wisdom normally resides in the mind. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. (John 16:13) The Spirit will guide us to make wise choices in relation to what the Lord has called us to say or do.

It takes faith to live in Godly wisdom because we cannot always understand the ways of God. However, the more we understand the Word of God, the more we will hear the Spirit and the more we will understand the ways of God. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6) This is a very important verse in terms of our faith. Knowing the Lord’s ways will make our paths straight, only if we don’t lean our own understanding. We cannot mix our will with the Lord’s will because it can destroy the wisdom the Lord has given.

Trust the Lord with all your heart knowing he will guide you with his wisdom. Walking in his wisdom, our thoughts, words, and actions will be pleasing to the Lord. Recognize his wisdom is far above our wisdom, and be thankful that God is willing to guide us through life with his divine wisdom.

Today, seek the Spirit for Godly wisdom in your thoughts, words and actions. When Satan tempts you, immediately go the Lord for wisdom. The Lord has the answer for every situation in life but we cannot always hear every word he speaks to us. We can always improve our ability to hear the Spirit by praying for his divine help and reading his Word.

Prayer: Lord, help me live in your wisdom as guided by the Holy Spirit. Guide my thoughts, words, and actions according to the scripture. Guide me in your Word to learn your language so I can hear the Spirit better. In Jesus name, Amen
