Live in God’s Power

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.

Ephesians 3:20

No matter what task is ahead, no matter what difficulties we are facing, God’s power that lives within us through the Holy Spirit is more than enough to have victory in Christ. The Word says God goes with us and he goes before us. The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged (Deuteronomy 31:8). We can only imagine what the Lord does for us as he goes before us, and his divine power working in us through the Spirit will enable us to overcome anything Satan places in our path.

We will identify God’s power in the following ways:

  1. God’s priority is to mold us to be Christ-like, to conform us to the likeness of his Son. We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). If we follow the Spirit, the Lord’s power will renew our minds and change our hearts to that of Christ, and he does this by using all things in our lives.
  2. Christ sets us free where we are controlled by the Holy Spirit and not directly by the world. We interface to the world through the Holy Spirit, which frees us from being a slave to the world. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery (Galatians 5:1).
  3. Through Christ we can overcome whatever Satan throws at us, whether temptations or making our lives difficult and fearful. For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith (1 John 5:4). As the Spirit increases our faith, we have the Lord’s power to overcome the world, knowing he will guide us to overcome anything Satan places in our path and he will sustain us through any situation in life. Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible (Matthew 19:24).
  4. The Spirit fills our minds and hearts with love, peace and joy that never leaves us but gets stronger within us as our faith gets stronger. If we can be like the apostle Paul we can be closer to the Lord through the Spirit than we are to the world. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength (Philippians 4:12-13). Paul suffered greatly as a Christian and spent much time in prison for being a Christian. He died in prison, executed by Nero. He said, For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain (Philippians 1:21).

The power that the Lord works in us is to renew our minds and hearts to conform to his Son, because this is impossible for us by ourselves. Only the power of God can make this change in us, which is the change that takes us into Heaven.

Today live in the Lord’s power, listening to the Spirit with your thoughts. Walk today with the Lord’s wisdom, patience, and self-control. Let everything you say and do be through a heart of love and care. Be humble and secure, seeing your infinite worth through the eyes of the Lord.

Let’s Pray: Lord, help me to live in your power, knowing that you can do things in my life that are impossible for me. Let me put total trust in your love and live by the Spirit’s guidance. In Jesus name, Amen
