God is Sovereign

Posted on

Arise, O God, judge the earth! For it is You who possesses all the nations.

Psalm 82:8

God is sovereign over all creation, and all his people will live in victory. Christians cannot be defeated because God protects our soul from the evil one, and Heaven is our eternal home.  People that don’t accept Christ as their Savior will see themselves victorious only in this life, but they will know the truth when they reach eternity living in total defeat forever.

When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left (Matthew 25:31-33) In the world today there are sheep and goats, the sheep are God’s people and the goats are Satan’s people.

What happens in the world is described in the book of Revelations; we know God is sovereign and our spiritual soul is protected from the evil one.  But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3)  We are in the Kingdom and our eternal life has already started. Since victory belongs to our Lord and we belong to the Lord, we have victory in Christ.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9) We are special possessions of our sovereign God, Heaven is our home, and we have nothing to fear.  The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? (Psalm 118:6)

Today, know God is sovereign and Christ will return and take us home and do away with all evil. We anxiously wait to be with the Father and the Son in our Heavenly home with our new perfect body.  This is the true victory and it is eternal.

Prayer:  Lord, I am comforted knowing you are sovereign over all creation, and that Christ will return to take me home.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
