God Can Do Immeasurably More

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.

Ephesians 3:20

What limits the Lord’s power that is at work in us? Could it be lack of faith, fear, lack of motivation, or lack of vision? The Lord’s power working within us can actually do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine; therefore, how do we activate this power in our lives?

 Jesus replied, “Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.” (Matthew 22:29). This was the answer Jesus gave to the Pharisees who were testing Jesus about marriage in heaven. They did not know the scriptures and they did not know the power of God. This verse can be a reason his power is not at work in us, because we probably don’t trust the power of God to fulfill his plan for our lives, or we are just not motivated to seek his divine plan.

How often do we see things God has called us to do that we see as far above our ability and skills? What could God do through us if we fully trusted him, stepped out in faith and followed his plan step by step guided by prayer? In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps (Proverbs 16:9). God will place his will on our hearts, and if we are motivated to his do will even though it may seem impossible to us, we will be amazed at what God can accomplish. Many Christians have had great faith and the Lord has done great things through them.

Faith in the Lord means trusting the Lord to work his power in us far beyond our own capabilities, because it forces us to depend on the Lord and trains us to walk in his guidance. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9). The Lord commands us to be strong and courageous because it shows we know and trust him to lead us into victory. Take the visions the Lord has placed on your heart and seek his guidance to direct your steps.

Today trust the Lord in all things and seek his guidance step by step. Whatever the Lord puts on your heart be courageous enough to step out on faith. This is pleasing to God because we recognize his power even through our weakness. Always live trusting the Lord and he will do immeasurably more than we ask or can imagine.

Let’s Pray: Lord, give me the faith to let your power work through me, and help me to never limit your power by depending on my own abilities. Lord, increase my trust in you so that I never doubt your faithfulness. In Jesus name, Amen
