Focus on the Spirit

Posted on

Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.

Colossians 3:2

Our spirit is eternal while our flesh is like a vapor, here for a while then vanishes. So where should our focus be, on our flesh or where we spend eternity? We know the destiny of our flesh, but we need to be confident on where we spend our eternity, because it’s our choice.

This short life is the only chance we have to walk with Christ into eternity. Satan knows if he can deceive us to focus on our worldly life, he has been victorious. No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. (2 Corinthians 11:4) We have to be very careful because Satan can deceive us and have us share our focus between God and the world without us even knowing. We have to examine our lives closely and pray that our focus is always on Christ.

We live in this world guided by Christ in everything we do. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (Colossians 3:23-24) If we live this verse, we will be successful in this world and we will do everything as serving Christ. We pray for the Lord’s to help us everything we do, and we do it with faith and dependence on Christ.

Christ will help us in all we do, if we do it for him, because he will guide us if we are quiet inside and hear the thoughts he places in our minds. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10) The Lord wants us to be still inside and not rush through life, because if are rushing through life it is because Satan does want us to be still and connected to Christ. Did your ever see Jesus rush during his three years of ministry?

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. (Matthew 5:14) This verse defines the purpose of all Christians, because the Lord gives all Christians the talent to be light for Christ. It can be encouraging, serving, teaching, preaching, leadership, giving handouts to people, inviting people to church, and showing others that we do everything for Christ. Pray that the Lord will reveal the talents he has given you. When we live to tell others about Christ, then our focus is on the Spirit, asking Christ to be with us. I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5)

Today live for eternity by bringing your spirit closer to Christ. We are spiritual people that live forever, so make wise choices during this short earthly life.

Prayer:  Lord help me to focus on having pure heart, and let the power of the Spirit control the sinful desires of the flesh. In Jesus name, Amen
