Divine Understanding

Posted on

The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

Psalm 119:130

The Lord has given his people wisdom and understanding that the world doesn’t have. Go and talk to people and ask them about God, eternal life, why God allows evil, or why Christians suffer? The interesting answers you receive might clearly illustrate a lack of understanding.

Christians have an ever increasing understanding of God, heaven, and eternal life through Christ. We also have an understanding of the world from the book of Revelation. But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. (2 Timothy 3:1-4) With this description in mind it’s not difficult to understand why the world is sinful. Further understanding of God and his relationship to the sinful world is given in Revelation by the seven seals, the seven bowls, and the seven trumpets.

With the wisdom God has given his people we can witness to people who want to hear the truth about God and the state of the world. If we study Revelation we can see the happenings in this world as the end times approach. Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold. “But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come. (Matthew 24:12-14) Lost souls need to change their own understanding on eternal life and know the truth.

The Lord has given us wisdom to bring to the world, so they might decide God’s truth over their own truth. We cannot decide for them but we do have the responsibility of presenting the truth in love. And then he told them, Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. (Mark 16:15)

Today, know the wisdom and knowledge that God has given you and seek opportunities to bring this good news in response to worldly questions. When people don’t understand why the world is the ways it is, or what God is doing about the world, or about eternal life, we have the answers from scripture. We bring Godly answers to people in love and with hope. And we show people that we do not walk in fear because heaven is our home.

Prayer: Help me to bring the truth about you and answers to worldly situations to people who don’t understand. Continue to give me wisdom and understanding from your Word and from the Spirit, and let it help me to be a better witness in pointing souls to the Kingdom. Thank you for your Word and for the Holy Spirit who gives me divine understanding. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
