Died to Sin

Posted on

What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

Romans 6:5-7

When we are baptized and we have the Holy Spirit of God living in us, so how can we sin any longer? We have died to sin because the spirit of Christ lives in us and gwe are convicted when Satan tempts us.

Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. (Romans 6:13) We are now a temple because the Holy Spirit and the spirit of Christ lives in us, and we are now a new creation.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:] The old has gone, the new is here! (2 Corinthians 5:17) When Christ lives in us through the Holy Spirit, we are new creation and the old has gone. We are new creation in Christ because the spirit of Christ lives in us, and that is blessing that we think deeply about – God lives in us.

Jesus took our sins to the cross that we have forgiveness, but if we see ourselves crucified with Christ then we can count ourselves “dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus” (Romans 6:11). Jesus not only lives within us, he also died on the cross for our sins, and we now have forgiveness when we a truly have a sorrowful heart for our sins. God knew that no person can be perfect like Christ, and that is way He sent his Son to earth.

Christ left Heaven to teach how to live a life so Heaven would be our eternal home. Not only did He come to teach us, God also gave is the Word so we could know God and his perfect love He has for us. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” God loves us and is willing to help us overcome Satan’s temptations, and He does by placing his love in our heart.

Today know that you are dead to sin and Satan has no power to control us. You are free in Christ and have overcome the world.

Prayer: Lord, help me to crucify the sinful nature by controlling the flesh through the Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen
